Baru River Cleaning in Central Jakarta Intensified

220 joint personnel are deployed to conduct a communal work along Baru River, Bungur Urban Village, Senen, Central Jakarta. In addition to roads, the water channel and river were cleaned out of garbage.

Central Jakarta Vice Mayor, Bayu Meghantara said, those 220 personnel are consisting of Bina Marga Sub-dept., Environment Sub-dept., PPSU and Transportation Sub-dept. In the field, there is also help from local people.

"This is done to anticipate the transition season. Our focus point is Baru River dredging, PKL anticipation and sidewalk repair," he expressed, Wednesday (1/10).

Meanwhile, Senen Sub-district Head, Munjir Munaji added, maintaining the cleanliness of channels and rivers is one of the keys to prevent puddles when it rains.

"Since last year, the place is already free from puddles. By doing so, it is hoped puddles can be anticipated this year. Satpol PP must control and anticipate PKL who obstruct the access of locals," he said.
